My name is Makenzie Storme, and I am a current student at North Smithfield High School, part of the Sophomore Class of 2026.
I have been playing softball for the past 6 years. I was unable to play during my 6th-grade year due to Covid-19. In my first year, I played for the North Smithfield Little League 10U Softball Team. For the past 2 years, I have played for the North Smithfield Middle School Softball Team, the 12U RI Rampage travel team, 14U and 16U RI Storm, and currently, I play for the 16U RI Rockets travel team. My primary positions on the field are Pitcher and Shortstop. Additionally, I switch-hit.
To date, my proudest accomplishments in softball include being selected as a Tri-Captain by my teammates for my middle school team (2022), striking out 11 batters in a game (2022), and improving my pitching skills, which currently include a fastball, change-up, curveball, and screwball. I also competed and placed 3rd in MLB's Hit, Pitch, Run Regionals 12U Division, held at Fenway Park, home to the Boston Red Sox (2021). Furthermore, I led my team to victory in the RI Storm Annual Firecracker Tournament as the pitcher (2023) and started several varsity games during my freshman season (2023).
Although I am not known as a "home run hitter," I am content with that because one does not need home runs to achieve great offensive feats. I am an active contact hitter, aiming to utilize my speed and contribute to my team in every possible way. As a switch-hitter, I find my left side to come naturally. As a player, I am still developing both mentally and physically, and I am committed to continual improvement.
Beyond my aspirations in softball, I aim to play college softball at the highest level while pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice. My ultimate goal is to become a prosecution attorney.
I look forward to speaking with you.
