Something I have come to learn about sports is that it is a continuing challenge. The ones that love the challenge are the ones that make their dreams come true, and that is exactly what I am trying to make happen myself. I have enjoyed my shares of success and even my shares of failure. Failure does not necessarily mean you are not good enough, it is a slap in the face that sets you right back on track. That is something that happens to me quite often.
There are so many things that have honestly influenced to make me who I am today. My mom is one of the biggest influences. She has taught me, as I continue to grow, that I should live life in a positive way and that life is an adventure. You never know where life will take you, so you always choose the path that will get you to where you wanna go. In all honesty, I have only been playing ball for two or three years. I have always wanted to play baseball, but softball was the only sport close enough to it. At first, softball was something I could do so I could spend time with my dad, but it soon became my whole life when I started to truly understand the game itself.
Over the years of playing softball, I’ve come to learn things about myself like being a leader, a friend, and a listener. I’m hoping to go into college to pursue a career as a personal trainer or a sports recruiter. Sports has always been in my blood so why no put my knowledge to some good use. I am in the process in finding a college that best suits and fulfills both my academic and athletic needs. There has been some obstacles that I have had to overcome to get to where I am today. My mental strength has been one of the biggest obstacles. I am currently the only pitcher at my high school and it has made it challenging for me mentally, but it has become something that I have soon overcome. I have also had to overcome my fear that there is always someone that is going to be physically and mentally stronger than me as I continue my life’s journey playing softball.
If I could say one unique trait that I have, it’s my strength to overcome the biggest failures in life. Life has found ways to stick the biggest obstacles in front of me, but I always fight my way through it. I may not be the strongest or most muscular softball player, or even athlete, but my heart is all in this sport and that is something no one could ever take from me. My love of the game is something I will always have, and I will strive to reach my dream no matter what.
