Background:
My name is Lauren Stingley. I am 14 and a freshman. I have been playing softball since I was five. Ever since I was little, I wanted to play at the college level. When I was in 10u I played catcher, but I had always been fascinated with the pitching side of it. One day, my coach offered for anyone to pitch in the middle of a game, and I jumped at the chance. That first game pitching was pretty rough, but I could tell that I really was going to like it. After that, I started taking lessons, and began pitching as my primary position in 12U. My secondary position is first base, and I really like that position, too. On my high school team, I have played a lot of third base and have done well. I also enjoy hitting and currently have the best average on my travel team.
Leadership:
I have always been a leader and have been made the captain on teams. I am also happy to support other leaders like with upperclassmen on my high school team. I understand the other players, and I support all of my pitchers on every team. I celebrate even the tiniest things. When a teammate gets into trouble in the circle and is struggling, I do what I can to cheer her on. I am willing to do what it takes to get me or my team to the next level.
Academics:
My parents have always made my main focus academics. I am homeschooled in several subjects and attend a homeschool academy for the other subjects. I made straight A's in every subject in middle school, which I am very proud of. I would like to manage a business or own one someday, and so I think I would like to get a degree in business. I would also like to give pitching and hitting lessons to help younger athletes.
Other Interests:
I really enjoy writing. My grandmother published multiple books, and my sister and I are writing a book now. I also enjoy hanging out with friends, playing video games, working out, singing, and making people laugh.
Thank you for taking the time to read my Personal Statement.
