Softball has been a passion for me since the age of 3. I remember wanting to play baseball with my brother and carrying his bat and glove, dragging it around everywhere when he wasn't using it. I love to practice hard and leave covered in dirt and with ripped pants - it's exciting to lead by example and cheer for my teammates!
My 1st All-Star, at the age of 5, I was chosen to play shortstop and loved it. My parents were so excited at that opportunity - who knew I would still be playing shortstop today?
At the age of 9 I thought I wanted to pitch - I was taller than most of my teammates and pitching coaches really love tall girls - my parents thought I was a natural because of my calm nature and able to handle pressure quite nicely, although I really missed playing defense and diving. I earned a starting position playing 2B for a local team from Pearland, Texas (Pearland Phantomz 99) and tied for 5th at my first USA/ASA Nationals - what a week that was. We played some amazing teams - that's the atmosphere I enjoy the most.
I've had the opportunity to earn starting positions with some great teams and players - all which really prepared me for this past summer when I played for Texas Magic - Lara 16U. How exciting to battle against true 16U teams, and win! Our record was 59-14, not bad at all for a young team. I've had some great opportunities this year, practicing with the 18U Gold/Premier team, wow! Really looking forward to playing 16U Gold this fall.
