Claire Decker '21 Recruiting Profile

I am so excited to pursue a college career playing softball and contributing to a program at the collegiate level!  I have played with the Firecracker Softball organization here in Lubbock, Texas for more than 6 years and I have always striven to conduct myself with honor and respect both on and off the field, knowing that my behavior is a reflection of myself, my team, and the organization.  I think my work ethic and training have carried over to my high school team and I have had the best examples and coaching, both in travel ball and in high school.   I play primarily 3rd base and concentrate on developing my skills at that position, but have been asked to play other positions on my high school team and I work very hard to fulfill my potential at whatever role I'm asked to fill.  I believe that my skills can only improve as an athlete if I prepare and work to be the best at every position I play. 

I take great pride in being as diligent off the field as I am on it.  I plan to pursue a career in Veterinary medicine and my academic goals are set in that direction.   I have maintained a 4.37 GPA and I work very hard to be successful academically.  It would be amazing to continue my dream of playing softball in college and reach my goals.  I love this sport and if given the chance, I will strive to be a dynamic player and be a positive influence and asset to my team.  I have been preparing mentally and physically for most of my life and would love the chance to continue to grow!
