Ever since I was a kid in elementary school my goal was to be good enough to make the varsity softball team as a freshman. Not only did I accomplish this goal, but I exceeded my own expectations by making First Team All District and helping my team make it into the playoffs for the first time in five years. Although my team lost, we turned heads and surprised everyone that we were able to hold New Braunfels Canyon 1-0. The loss hurt, but it allowed me revel in the joy of success on the field and the sting of defeat. I much prefer the the success and my goal for next year is to make it past the first round of the playoffs and go all the way to State.
My passion and love is softball, but I wouldn't be the athlete and competitor I am today without being apart of the other sports I've competed in. I am a varsity softball player, in varsity cross country and I was the captain of my freshman basket ball team. In every sport, I learned something that would not only make me a better athlete, but a better teammate. In cross country, I learned to be mentally and physically focused and strong, so that you don't give up when the going gets tough. Basketball allowed me to become a leader on the court. With that leadership came the responsibility to trust and believe in my teammates to make plays. For me softball is the ultimate sport because it's the perfect combination. I have to be mentally focused in the batter's box and physically strong in the field. I've learned to trust in my teammates and have there backs when they get down on themselves. I know I have what it takes to be a college softball player.
