Softball is not just a sport for me; it’s a way of life. Ever since I was 5 years old, I have been playing this sport and loving every moment of it. Softball is my passion and has taught me so much about myself and about others. Without softball, I never would have made the friends I have or seen the amazing places I have traveled to.
Having my dad as my coach has allowed me to gain a better relationship with him, and I look up to him as my mentor. He is a major inspiration to me and has helped me become the person I am today. Along with the relationships I developed and places I have seen, I was truly able to understand what it means to be a leader and also a team player, and how to show respect on and off the field. This sport has given me so many exciting opportunities and the lessons I have learned will help me as I continue my journey throughout high school and college.
Playing softball at a high level with passionate coaches and friends has helped me learn about the importance of teamwork and school pride. Many of my older friends already are playing softball in college. I was fortunate enough to play and start on a high school team with kids that have gone onto or will go to the University of Virginia, George Mason University, University of Central Florida, and others. I want to choose a college that best suites my academic and career goals and I will continue to play high school softball despite my heavy AP and Honors course load. Whether it is travel or high school, the discipline and desire to succeed I have learned through my lifelong softball experiences has contributed to my academic success in high school and prepared me for the same success in college.
