My name is Maisie Spivey and I’m a rising Junior at Varina High School. I will be in the Advanced Career Education Center there for criminal justice. This is a dual enrollment program affiliated with a local community college. Prior to this coming year I was attending The Center for the Arts for dance. (Specialty Centers are like a 4 year college major in a specific area which includes honors classes.) I coach a Christian basketball team for young girls. I enjoy teaching these girls not only about basketball, but also teaching them about how to be positive, unique, and powerful girls in our society. When I’m not on the field, court, or in the classroom, I can be found having a great time with my friends and family. I’m the type of person that will never give up and is determined to get it right. No matter how high the stakes, I can guarantee that I give my best in any situation.
My number one collegiate goal is to attend a four year criminal justice program. For as long as I can remember, I’ve always wanted to be a police officer. I love helping my community and I feel like this would be the ultimate way to do that. I believe that someone’s greatest accomplishment in life is not what they’ve done for themselves but what they’ve done for others. I’m looking for a school that not only has a great athletic program, but one that can also help me achieve this goal.
