Trying several sports from gymnastics, dance and basketball I finally found the sport that I fell in love with at the age of 10. SOFTBALL! It all started on a little league softball field with a bright pink helmet, not knowing one thing about softball, but that all would soon change. There was just something about stepping foot on dirt and running the dirt through my fingers that set a fire inside me. That is when I knew I wanted to play in college one day.
Over the years my knowledge for the game grew. I started watching older girls I grew up with and saw how they played and their love for the game. Watching them made me realize that softball is my sport. That is when I decided to join a travel team. A few years later I realized I needed to up my game. At that time I told my parents I wanted to take pitching and hitting lessons. Putting in all the extra work made me want to do it more and more. I love the competitiveness of the sport. It drives me to push myself to be a better player for myself and for my team. I am very coachable and have great leadership skills. I like to lead by example and be a good role model to my teammates all while encouraging them.
I work hard not only on field but in the classroom as well. Education is very important to me. I have taken some honors and AP classes while maintaining a high GPA. I have done a lot of volunteering at a local daycare, which now I am working at since I am of age, participated in Home Depot community events, and local soup kitchens in my area. Something my parents have always reinforced to me that first and foremost, to be a good human! Second, I need to make my time in school count and then comes all the fun stuff like sports, extracurriculars and friend time.
I want to attend a college that feels like my second home while I am away from home. I am open to all options and want to find the best match that fits most if not all of my needs/wants. My ultimate goal is to be successful, set a good example for my younger brother and make my parents proud.
