At four years old I first stepped out onto the baseball field where I developed a passion for the sport I love today - softball. I played on the local travel and tournament boy's baseball teams until I was in the 6th grade. At that time I switched to softball and immediately fell in love with what this game had to offer me: team camaraderie, competition, and the increase in confidence and self esteem that filled me when I walked onto the field. It has been an aspiration of mine to play at the collegiate level since the 6th grade. I believe the experience would open doors and provide me opportunities to excel in future endeavours.
I am a three sport athlete and enjoy practice as well as playing in games. I believe in preparation on and off the field to sharpen my skills to become the best player I can be. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, my softball season was pretty much shut down this school year. However, I continued to work out in my basement with the hope that this pandemic would end and I would be ready to play. When our season was cancelled, I didn’t give up and started to work out with an athletic trainer to become faster and stronger. My strong work ethic makes me a leader by example and my sense of humor allows me to encourage my teammates and help strengthen the team bond we share. I believe these assets make me a valuable recruit to any college softball team.
In the classroom, I study hard, take advanced college prep classes, have maintained a position on the A honor roll and was inducted into the National Honor Society. I push myself to utilize my time wisely and decided to take two college classes this summer during COVID-19 to better prepare for college. I am an active member in the school band and I am an active member in our Catholic community.
It is my ultimate goal to attend a college that provides me with the best education along with the opportunity to play softball at the highest level of competition. I am willing to explore all options to achieve this dream. I hope to promote women in education and athletics by becoming a role model to all peers and use my positive energy to ignite enthusiasm to the people around me.
