Olivia Davis '19 Recruiting Profile

My name is Olivia Davis and I am the player you want on your team. Ever since I started to play rec slow pitch at 5 years old, I’ve always craved a ball in my hand. As I grew older, I realized that I needed to put in a lot of extra work, even out of team practice to get to where I wanted to be as a player. Having worked with many different coaches for offense and defense, I know that one has to be coachable to absorb all the skills and techniques a coach has to offer. Through my sport I’ve learned that this is not a one person game, this is a TEAM sport. I love to perform great plays or hits myself but the most important thing for me is being united with my teammates. 

My academic goals for the rest of high school and college is to put all the effort I can into everything I do. I plan to pursue a Pre-Med major and continue to become a doctor someday. But also, one of my main goals for college is to play softball. No matter the level I just want to play. 

This past year, working with a woman who played Division II softball, I decided to permanently switch to left-side hitting. Ever since August of 2017 I have slapped and hit lefty. This was the turning point in my softball career. I closed a chapter of my hitting career in Austria, playing with America’s Team coached by Olympians, and embarked on a new one, leaving all my right-sided hitting skills in the past. I love spreading my passion and my skills onto the little girls in the area, inspiring them to become the best athlete and teammate they can be. 

To conclude, my love for the game inspires me to go above and beyond to be the best teammate inside and outside the classroom.
