Personal Statement

Playing basketball since I was in the second grade has been amazing. Now I’m a senior on my high school varsity team, and I'm excited to help our team win a fifth straight state title!  I work and study hard to shore up any weaknesses and continue to improve on the things I do well.   I listen, pay attention and excel in whatever role I’m asked to fill.  Our high school band was short a few instruments, and I was asked if I could play more than one to help the band so I added drums, bass guitar and the baritone to my musician toolbox for the band…teamwork is my etho.  I’m super excited playing on our high school varsity team and compliment them with tenacious defense (I love man-to-man) while still working hard for good shots, being a fearless shooter from any range and I play to win!

Long term I want to be a school teacher.  My commitment to learn and do well in school to realize this journey is a top priority.  With that however, I’ve learned from my parents, coaches and religious leaders at my school that balance in life is essential for happiness and so basketball, music, my faith and family help give me that balance.  My parents both had long careers as healthcare leaders and retired from the U.S. Air Force.  I’ve adopted and demonstrate every day the core values they taught me through their career experiences:  integrity first; service before self; and excellence in all I do.  If I have the opportunity to play basketball beyond high school at any college level, my future teammates and coaches will see my teamwork ethos, steadfast core values and a player that will never quit or settle for less than my very best. I want to play college basketball and help win championships!

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
