My name is Jayse Matonovich and I live in Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada. I am currently in grade 10 attending Sa-Hali Secondary School. I love the game basketball, but before I fell in love with the game, I was a high performance soccer player until the middle of my grade nine year. I stopped playing soccer because I was passionate about the game of basketball which was different than my love for soccer. My goal is to play at the highest level possible. I train hard every single day focusing on fundamentals, strength, speed and agility. I have a mindset where I don’t see failure as a time to quit, but instead as a challenge. I work hard in all areas of my life including academics and training. I am a quiet leader where I allow my work ethic to demonstrate my leadership and commitment to my team and teammates. I train before school, at lunch and after school everyday as my competitive drive pushes me to be the best I can possibly be. I am mentally tough and a composed individual and do not allow others perceptions and judgements guide my actions. I love school and I am passionate about human rights and equality and currently in the top of my class academically. My academic goals include pursuing law. The one thing that separates me from everyone else is my work ethic, which is my strongest asset because of my dedication and commitment to my goals and the people around me including my team.
