Teagan Thurman '20 Recruiting Profile

Sports and competition have been a part of who I am from a very early age. Growing up in an athletic family, I learned to waterski at four years old and joined the Tampa Bay Water Ski Show Team and competed and won on a multi-state level- taking home 1st place wins in both the swivel and doubles categories. I have always loved the thrill of competition, as it drives me to be a stronger competitor and motivates me to work harder. I also firmly believe that an athlete means being successful in more than just your sport. Strength begins in the classroom- a strong mind leads a strong body. As a scholar athlete, I also need to be effective in the community and this is part of my trifecta for success. As a freshman, I was VP of the student body, using my voice to unite my fellow students and athletes. I am actively competing as a Mathlete and I have spent the past three summers volunteering hundreds of hours at James Haley Veteran's Hospital and have humbly learned how these courageous men and women have truly defined sacrifice. From the moment I picked up my first basketball, I knew that it would be a part of who I am going forward. I am extremely passionate about the sport and when I am not playing or training, I am following professional and collegiate teams and learning. My goal is to play basketball at a very competitive level and bring my versatility, leadership, and relentless drive to a team who has this same vision.
