Hello!
My name is Amani Scott, and I'm going into my senior year at Freire Charter School, in Wilmington, DE. I've been off the court for a while but I'm working my way back into shape, with the intention of playing for the women's basketball team in the fall. In my spare time I like to draw, read and I have an interest in political debating, as well as working on my game whenever possible with my father, as well as with Coach B's kids basketball program, where I'm currently participating in a back to school league comprised of all college and high school varsity level men. I'm currently holding a B average in all of my major courses, but will be working to get my averages up to the A level. My favorite subject in school in English, and I'll be in honor's English this upcoming school year.
On the basketball court I'm looking to improve my skills so that I can play not only shooting guard but also some point guard and small forward too. My strength on the court include my ball handling, rebounding and defense. I think my biggest weakness on the court is confidence, but I think that once my confidence level rises I think the sky's the limit. I also feel like I need work on my conditioning, as well as my outside/foul shooting, but I'm a hard worker, and will continue to work on every weakness to my game. My favorite NBA player right now is Giannis Antetokounmpo, and my favorite WNBA player is Sue Bird, but I also admire Elena Delle Donne because of her versatility. I hope to one day be as reliable and versatile a player as Delle Donne, and I'm willing to put in the type of work necessary to reach those heights, I think my work ethic and my desire to improve my game will be a way for me to separate myself from other recruits.
I hope to find a college program that I can grow with, not only as a basketball player but as a person too. I'm also looking for a college that can help me reach my career goals in the field of political science once I complete my college education. I think my skills, my dedication to the sport of basketball, and my work ethic will be a great addition to any college program, and as I continue to improve in these areas I will be able to help your program too.
