Around the age of 7 or 8, my Mom asked me if I wanted to play basketball. Since then, I never looked back. Basketball became part of my life, it became part of me. Throughout my life, basketball has also been me escape from reality. I left all of my problems at the door and focused on the basketball or hoop in front of me, nothing else mattered. Basketball has been a forum for teaching me life lessons and life skills, it taught me about life. Life is not fair but with the right calls and the right leadership, I have learned that everything will be alright. From my travel coach, I learned that grades are as important as sports (if not you run laps).
As I continue my education, I want to attend a school that is looking for an athlete who will clearly uphold the student/athlete model. I want a coach who cares about me and my teammates as much as a person, as an athlete. I had to be independent in high school about my education and playing career. One of the strengths that have come from that is I know I can take care of myself. I can step up when needed, I have my own voice, and know the difference between right and wrong. With my work ethic, identity, and strengths, I believe I can make a difference in your program.
