One of the kids at school asked me, “Why do you play basketball, is it because you love the game?” I simply stated, “Theres a difference in people who love the game than having a passion for the game, kids that don’t have a passion for the game don’t wanna work outside of the 2 hours a day program that we have. I come to the gym every Sunday we don’t have practice and I work on my game, after practices I stay in the gym till my coaches kick me out and say it’s time to go home.” Basketball isn’t just a sport to me it’s a lifestyle, I wasn’t so sure 6th grade year if this is what I wanted to do because I didn’t wanna eat, breathe, sleep basketball. That all changed my 7th grade year endless hours outside, endless texting coach’s for workouts to do. My height I know is scary for some big colleges to look at and be like okay well take you, but i’ve played against 6ft + girls in our region and I still found a way to set up an offense, feed the ball to my teammates to make a play, and still score 5-15 points a game. Going after every lose ball, diving on the floor, putting a body on someone to try and get a rebound, and moving my feet to get a turnover on defense. So it’s not about if you love the game, it’s about how much passion you have to play the game.
