Personal Statement

Interesting enough, I began my athletic career as a tumbler and trampolinist. I earned Illinois State Championship awards by both the AAU and USTA organizations and many other State and National trophies during my career.   The sport of tumbling taught me how to be dedicated to a sport, to persevere when things get tough, and to be self motivated.

When I entered middle school, I became very interested in basketball and track and field and decided it was time to hang up the leotard.  The love of both grew as I succeeded on the court and on the track.  I caught on quickly to the sport of basketball during camps and while playing AAU basketball.  I was also a huge part of my middle school track team.  I was even lucky enough to run the 100 meter and the 4x100 meter at the State level in both 7th and 8th grade.

My love for basketball continues to grow.  I have been a 2-year starter and have played at the Varsity level in high school.  I may only be 5'2" but I'm quick, have a great shot, have mad hops, and am very hardworking.

Sprinting is something that I love, too.  I earned a Varsity letter both my Freshman and Sophomore year.  I currently hold the school indoor record for the 60 meter dash.  Unfortunately, my Sophomore year season was cut short due to COVID-19.  I'm excited to see what the future holds in running.

My ultimate goal is to continue to play basketball and to run track at the college level.  I have always been able to maintain a high GPA and to be involved in the sports I love.  I hope to pursue a degree in a school related field such as School Social Work, Psychology, or Occupational/Physical Therapy.

As you can see, I am a very versatile athlete.  Tumbling at a young age taught me so many life lessons that have carried over into both basketball and track.  If there is one word that has repeated itself  into each sport to describe me, it would be "coachable".
