Personal Statement

My name is Lauryn Cross. I am a Junior, varsity point guard at Urbana High School. Growing up I have always wanted to play at a collegiate level, I never played with my grade level. As a 6th grader I played on the 8th grade team, and as a freshman I started as a varsity point guard and was honored to be captain. Always having the passion to put forth 110% everytime I step out on that court. Although excelling on the court is a priority I realize that student comes before athlete. I take pride in my academic successes as I have been a honor roll student since the beginning of middle school. I am honored to have been chosen to participate in several leadership programs at my high school as a freshman. That shows the leadership qualities my teachers and administrators also see in me. I am active in my community and church, as I embrace my walk with Christ by how I show a positive attitude and character on and off the court. I also enjoy sharing Christ with my teammates and others by volunteering in my local Fellowship Christian Athlete Organization (FCA). I am a big team player. As captain it is my job to be a leader on the court and maintain a postitive attitude while encouraging my teammates to push them harder each step of the way. While striving to play at a collegiate level, I would like to study Kinesiology or Physical Training. I believe that if you keep your head focused on your goals and put in the time and effort during on and off seasons, in and out of the classroom you will be successful. "If you want to succeed as bad as you want to breath then you'll be successful." I do not believe in giving up, I work hard till I know that I have left it all on the court.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
