My name is Madelyn Poynter. I am a class of 2024 5’10 small forward/shooting guard. I transferred from Fishers High School to Lapel at the beginning of my sophomore year because it was in the best interest of my family, and so far I love the small town community feel! While at Fishers I was a starter on the Fishers High School freshman basketball team. I led our team with points for the season. I’m looking for a program that will give me the greatest opportunity to be the best version of myself on and off the court. I have been playing basketball since third grade. I am a starter on my AAU team and a lead scorer as well. Passion and persistence continue to be a driving force for my performance.
My top two choices for a major as of right now are either the medical field or business administration. I do very well academically and an academic scholarship would be very exciting. I am undecided on where I would like to go to college. Ultimately, I just want the best fit.
I have pushed myself consistently to maximize my potential. I know the greatest efforts achieve the greatest rewards. I have always believed in myself, and my parents have been there every step of the way to support me and my dreams. My commitment to my coach and teammates is that I will always work hard, even if it’s a outdoor practice in 100’ degree weather as we did last summer. My drive and determination keeps me training year round. I never quit shooting.
As one of my coaches always said, “Basketball is what I do, it’s not who I am.”
