Recruiting Intangibles:
Hi Coaches, My name is Nicole Etchison; everyone calls me Nikki.
I currently attend Hood College and played as a starter my first year, I am a sophomore but due to COVID we did not have a season my Freshman year. I am currently in the Nursing program and have decided to change my path to a program Hood does not offer as a player. I feel I put myself against sometimes larger opponents and was within the top 40 for rebounding in my conference, as a 5' 6 player. I was No. 1 for minutes played in the MAC conference playing 809 minutes for the season, my heart, determination, intelligence, and athletic ability show through.
I describe myself as team-oriented, coachable, athletic, a great defender, and a shooter. I love to learn and play hard. My teammates describe me as someone happy to do anything for the team's good.
I take time to help others on and off the court, and I always have a smile until it’s game time. At that point, it’s game face until the game is over.
I am a fierce competitor that does not shy away from the competition. I am extremely fast, athletic, and strong for my 5'6 frame. I strength and agility train on and offseason. I am a well-rounded athlete and a good student, and I am super coachable and a friendly person.
Watching me play is exciting, but I am equally excited about practices. I have a very high motor, and I do not accept mediocre performance.
Whether I hit all my shots or not, I will make up for it by playing hard-nosed defense and distributing the basketball to open teammates; I make great passes and am not afraid to get physical while grabbing rebounds. As I have been maturing and growing, my aggressiveness and ability to play multiple positions are starting to come alive, and I love playing the game. I am a basketball player; wherever you need me, I am there.
I give it my best every time I play a game or attend a practice. We may not always win, but that gives me room to get better, learn from it, and grow.”
I am looking forward to speaking with you and getting to know your program.
Nikki
