Ever since I was a kid, I have had major goals, not only in basketball but in everyday life. From a young age, I have aspired to follow in the footsteps of my grandmother and mother and become a nurse. In my elementary school days at St. Mark's, I could often be found down in the secretary's office helping to put bandages on other kids. From the age of about four or five, if I was asked what i wanted to be, the answer was always a nurse. That answer has not changed since then. However, nursing is not my only lifelong goal. I have always enjoyed school and have done my best to keep learning and get good grades. At times, like every other kid, I find school very tedious, but I can really say that I enjoy school. From early on I discovered that I love the feeling of achievement and pride that you feel when you work hard and finally grasp that tough concept in math or science, or earn an A+ on a history assignment, or even find that one English book who's message you know will stay with you forever, for me it was To Kill A Mockingbird.
Alongside all my career and academic goals, there has always been basketball. I began to play in kindergarten and have not stopped since then. I loved it from the moment that I began, and by third grade I was already convinced I would play for the Connecticut Suns in the WNBA. My family has a strong history of good basketball players and they passed down to me a certain amount of natural talent. It is my love for the game however, and the support of my parents that have really allowed for me to develop that talent. Over the years I have developed a good shot with three-point range, and I have always been a good ball handler. I am smart on the court and a supportive of teammate on and off of the court. I have faced tough seasons on teams that struggled to win and have had amazing seasons on teams that really knew how to win; and I have learned from and cherished both experiences. I have always known that there was no way that I could stop playing this sport after my high school career ended and I have always dreamed of playing on a college team. And soon I hope to make that dream come true.
