Hi, my name is Sydney Dodds and I am a 5’2” point/shooting guard from Springfield, MA and I play Varsity Basketball for Springfield Central High School . During the offseason, I play for the Springfield Ballers. While I am a multi sport athlete (golf and tennis), my first love is basketball. Since the first time that I picked up a basketball, I always had a dream of playing in college. My love for the game continues to grow every day and I am constantly putting in the work to become a better athlete. I train at least four days a week working on strength, conditioning, and agility. I also focus on strengthening my weaknesses on the basketball court.
As much as I love basketball, I know the importance of my education. I challenge myself by enrolling in the toughest courses my school offers. While carrying a 4.47 GPA, I do my best to represent myself, my family, and my teams as a true student athlete by displaying integrity, humility, and care for others. In my spare time, I enjoy volunteering at one of the local Boys and Girls Club. I also mentor middle school students to help them prepare for high school through AmeriCorps. I have also earned certification in CPR.
My goal as a basketball player is to continue to develop my skills as a shooter and floor general as well as becoming a strong defender with the ability to take on the other team’s best players. With my work ethic and dedication on and off the court, I know that whatever I put my mind to, I can accomplish.
