My love for the game of basketball comes from my drive for competitive greatness. My style of play can be best described by a famous John Wooden quote, “Be quick, but don’t hurry.”
Before I could shoot a basket I learned the work ethics of great defense and forcing the competition to hurry. Disrupting the other team’s rhythm, causing turnovers and converting them into fast break points are one of the greatest feelings. Defensive intensity is my passion. I enjoy a fast paced game and am fundamentally strong in my ball handling and shooting skills. I am comfortable to bring the ball up the floor, while my role is mainly as a shooting guard. I am confident to take the open shots, drive to the basket and can read the floor. I stay patient to work the ball as a team to find the best shot selection. I am an unselfish player always looking for the open teammate and assist, along with the matching high five after a nice play. I love scrambling for the loose ball and am not afraid to get inside and rebound against the tallest players. I enjoy the team spirit and lasting friendships that I am making along the way. Seeing what a team can do when putting together all our strengths is an awesome experience.
Playing basketball has taught me much more than just the sport itself. I have to learn from my mistakes while always giving 110%. The same principles apply to my academics. I take my studies serious and currently maintain a 3.9 GPA. When I have a tough class or assignment I seek out support and find ways to understand the material and keep learning. I never settle for less than my personal best. This keeps me motivated towards my goals of completing college and having a successful career and future. I enjoy volunteering and giving back to the community as well as spending time with my family.
I would love the opportunity and challenge to play basketball at the next level while gaining my college degree. I will continue to work hard, stay true to myself, excited for all my future may bring.
