I started playing basketball at the age of 7 and I have loved it ever since. My parents and coaches would say that I’ve been the most competitive player on the floor since the ymca league. College basketball has always been in my sights. To me it seems like an exhilarating challenge that I want to experience. I strive to give 110% all 32 minutes of each game and work hard in every practice. Every school season is a chance to play with different people and set new personal goals for myself. After a long day of school, practice is what I look forward to. I want to work hard in our gym so it can be seen in other peoples’ gyms. I get excited every summer because I take that time to work on my skills and gain new experiences-whether it‘s playing in out of state tournaments, helping run my high school‘s junior players camp, spending hours on my own court out back, or attending as many open gyms as I possibly can.
Off the court, I attend Russellville High School and work just as hard to keep my 3.95 GPA. I care a lot about my grades and sometimes being a high school athlete is not always the easiest. I am good at balancing and keeping myself organized; that will be a good aspect to take to college. I also attend my local church in Russellville and am a member of FCA.
The basketball floor is my safe space and I don’t take a single minute on it for granted. I have a high basketball iq and I am a good team player. I’ve worked extremely hard to gain the skill of seeing the whole floor while I am playing as the point guard and that helps me to make each play happen. I have been told that I am able to catch little opportunities on the floor. Selfish basketball is something I do not believe in; it takes a team and you giving all you’ve got. Effort is something I will never not give.
I want to attend a college that will improve my overall game because you can always get better, and there are always things to learn. I would like to be challenged everyday and always be competitive. Importantly, I want to continue to enjoy the game of basketball and have fun on the court. I am willing to work hard and continue to be coachable wherever I play.
