I'm Giavanna Faison from Elmont New York. I am interested in playing college level basketball as well as pursuing a degree in criminal justice. I am currently a senior at Elmont Memorial HS where I have been working to improve my GPA as I complete all required courses for graduation. I am taking AP Environmental Science as well as the required Math, English and Social Studies classes. My basketball experience includes 5 years varsity starting small forward for the EMHS team, who have successfully won our conference the last 4 years and progressed to the NY State finals this year. Although a disappointing loss, our team played well and I surpassed my average point per game with 12 points. I consider my strengths to the team to be my high passing IQ and strong court awareness. I have also played 5 years AAU basketball with several teams in the NYC area and am currently playing with the Long Island Lightning under Coach Catapano, current NYSHSAA Federation winner team coach. On this team my role is center/forward but I also play guard when needed. On this team I have added my varsity experience to a strong team and I feel I contribute to the growth and development of my teammates and my leadership has strengthen the team's defensive play and competitive drive. Academically I have developed my study and organizational skills and have seen growth in my academics leading me to a successful junior year. I plan on challenging myself next year with AP Science classes to enhance my academic record and prepare me for college.
