My name is Marie Mercedes I am currently 15 years old and a sophomore in high school. I’ve been playing basketball for about 3 years and have just improved significantly each year but am always looking to improve on certain skills. I can drive very well to the basket but I can also be a shooter. I am very coachable and have a very strong passion for the game which just drives me to want to be better each and every time I step on the court. Although I take the game very seriously I always make sure I am up to date with all my work and that all my grades stay high. Academics have always been very important to me and it’s something i’ve always taken very seriously ever since I was in school. I have been taking advanced and honors classes since I was in 7th grade. I also was in a Pre-Ap English course my freshman year. Even though I knew it would be difficult I was always willing to take that academic challenge and take the harder courses to push myself harder. Another passion of mine is playing the viola, i’ve been playing for about 6 years now and during those years i’ve gotten the opportunity to play in orchestras all over Long Island. Overall i‘ve always made it a priority to work hard on the court but at the same time keep my grades up and everything else in check, I believe balance is very important
