Being the third of five children, I know a thing or two about competition. My whole life I have been looking up to my very successful older sister who currently plays Field Hockey as a junior in Cornell. I began playing basketball in third grade on a recreational league team, and the passion I had from the start is one I still posses today. Basketball gives me a moment to relax and just play, not having to think about any stress or responsibility I have at the time. Being a multi-sport athlete taught me how to manage my time and focus on the things that were most important to help me achieve my goals. Being young for my grade, I was often smaller than many people I played against. I had to work harder to compete, and that has taught me the importance of having a strong work ethic.
My academic goals for high school are to receive my IB certificates, and get high grades on my AP exams, while maintaining a GPA that will allow me to get into competitive academic schools. As I have grown, I learned that basketball isn't only a physical sport, but also a mental one, so I began to control what I could. One thing I developed was leadership. I became more vocal and confident, which are desirable traits for a point guard. I’ve been told by coaches that I have exceptional court vision and can see things happen even before they do, making me a more reliable point guard. I have prided myself in what others have called "unmatched work ethic" and endurance which leads me to outplay my opponents. As I continue to grow, I know my mental and physical game will continue to progress, and I am excited to see how far they can bring me from high school all the way through college.
