Shelby Woods '20 Recruiting Profile

My collegiate goals are to earn a college degree while still having the opportunity to play basketball.  Math and science are two of my favorite subjects. Upon graduating from college, I would like to work in a career involving STEM.  I am a good candidate for your team because I am hardworking, coach-able, and I have a high basketball IQ.  I also play with a team first approach.  During my basketball career, I have had to play all positions on the floor.  This experience has made me both a stronger and smarter player.  It enabled me to earn a starting position on my high school varsity team since my freshman year.  I have also learned to succeed through adversity.  I did not get much playing time my first season of AAU.  Instead of feeling sorry for myself, I used the experience to work harder and get better.  In both academics and athletics, I strive to be an overachiever.  This has helped me to balance the rigor of my school work and playing basketball. What makes me different from other recruits in character is that I am a team player who looks to make other people better, both in the classroom and on the court.
