Laura MacKinnon '19 Recruiting Profile

I have played basketball since the 4th grade and although I played other sports along the way, including several intense years as a competitive swimmer I have dedicated myself to basketball because I cannot imagine a time when I'm not playing. I have worked hard to improve my game, playing this summer for Team Nova Scotia at the Canada Games and I've been identified as a potential national team player for Canada. I love the opportunities I've had to work with different coaches and I truly appreciate the friendships that were made on the court and those that continue to be a part of my everyday life.

I am trying to decide what course of study will be best for my interest and skills and I'm leaning towards business or sciences. I fully intend to play basketball at the highest possible level and continue my dreams of playing for Team Canada one day.

 Coaches tell me I am quick to learn new drills or adapt to new plays, that I am coachable and I'm a hard worker. Off the court my coaches have praised me for my leadership and kindness. I have respect for my coaches, my teammates and I love the game of basketball!
