Jade Solomon '24 Recruiting Profile

(Hello/Greetings, my name is Jade. My community is Nawash, and I live in Orillia).

During the years of learning to play basketball, I’ve had multiple coaches, referees, parents and players from competing teams tell me to keep up the good work and skills. I recently had an encounter with a coach that hasn’t seen me since my start in basketball, she told me that I was the type of player that she looked for, athletic and passionate about the game. I feel honored that she remembered me, and I know that I want to make that type of impression on others.

The desire to learn more about the game I love to play and the determination to see it happen, also the ability to give back to my basketball community to teach the younger girls that the game they love to play doesn’t have to stop after a certain age or school level. I’ve enjoyed teaching the younger girls about basketball and giving the knowledge that I’ve learned to them. I had a parent thank me after a couple of times that I included her daughter in some fun games regarding basketball, she said that I was a great influence with her daughter and made trying out for basketball something her daughter decided she wanted to try again.

I bring excellent communication skills and encouragement to the team I play on during practices and games. I also help direct my teammates when I notice an opposing player that is not covered by my team. During games, I am unselfish in that I will feed the ball to my teammates before I consider a shot for myself.

I look forward to learning from my future coaching staff and teammates on my journey through this next phase of education.
