Personal Statement

I am a 15 year old Sophomore playing and starting on the Varsity team. I am left handed. I am a ball handler/shooter/defender who loves basketball.

Picked up to play in the RUN4THEROSES Event in Louisville, Kentucky from July 5-8, 2019. As a graduating 9th grader, I played on a Southwest Academy Team (London, ON) 11th Grade team. Played decent minutes, and put up 17 points in one of the games. Averaged 9 points a game with this 11th grade squad. Also, filled in on the 9th Grade Southwest Team for two games and averaged 16 points a game in those two games.

Picked up to play in the NIKE EYBL Boo Williams event in Hampton, Virginia - April 26-28, 2019 for the SouthWest Basketball Academy 9th Grade Girls team.

I played Club Basketball for London Ramblers U16 JUEL Prep team during the 2018-19 season. We played in the JUEL Prep League. We finished near the bottom of the standings. As a true Freshman on the team, I started 11/12 games that I played in, averaged over 8 points a game, 4.7 rebounds, 1.2 assists. I also averaged 34% from the 3point line and 34% from the field. I shot over 64% from the FT line, lead the team in minutes played/game, rebounds/game and was third in points/game and assists/game. On 05JUN2019, I was awarded the 2018/19 Player of The Year Award - London Ramblers U16 Girls JUEL Prep Basketball

In April 2019, I was picked up to play in the NIKE EYBL Boo Williams event in Hampton, Virginia - April 26-28, 2019 for the SouthWest Basketball Academy 9th Grade Girls team.

On February 18, 2019, I received notification that I had been cut from the Team Ontario U15 team tryouts. Despite being cut, it is my understanding that I was one of the Top 20 players.

On November 23, 2018, I received notice that I had been selected to attend the Tri-City Top 40 Girls Camp in coordination with Adidas brand to be held late-May, 2019 in Waterloo, Ontario. The information indicated that I had been "scouted throughout the summer and high school season as one of the top players in the region and that this camp recruits the Top 40 basketball players across the region in Grades 11-Prep as of September 2018. The Top 40 Camp focuses on skill development & talent exposure."

On November 15, 2018, I received notice that I was one of four girls from our region selected to participate in the Ontario Basketball Association's 1st Centre of Performance Centralized sessions, taking place on December 1, 2018 in Etobicoke, Ontario and December 2, 2018 in Brampton, Ontario. This event brings the top players identified in each of the Regional Centre of Performance "pods" together from throughout the Province. The Ontario Basketball Association lists their Centre of Performance, on their website as "a national program designed to develop student-athletes to compete at the international basketball level. The program revolves around the “hot house” approach and focuses on student-athletes in the key years of their development. The emphasis of CP is to train skills that student-athletes do not otherwise have the opportunity to develop. CP is not based on a competition model. Instead, it is a group of student-athletes training together in regional pods across Ontario with the common goal of improving. Regional training pods are led by high-level, certified coaches who follow age-specific curriculum developed by Ontario Basketball and Canada Basketball. Top athletes from each pod are selected to participate in centralized training weekends." .

On June 27, 2018, I received official news that I was 1 of 12 - U14 girls Basketball players, selected to represent the Huron Region for the 2018 Ontario Summer Games. Competition took place over three days and we finished 6th out of 12 teams, losing only 2 games with one of those losses coming to the eventual Gold Medal team. I played the most minutes on our team and finished in the top 3 in scoring, rebounding, assists, FG%, FT % and 3-Point %

I played Club Basketball for London Ramblers U14 team during the 2017-18 season. My coach was Angela Campbell, a former All-Canadian. We played in the OBL League - Division 1. We finished in 3rd place. I averaged over 15 points a game, 6 rebounds, 1 block, 3 assists. I also averaged just over 45% from the 3point line and made almost 2 - 3pointers a game. I shot over 75% from the FT line and lead the teams in minutes played/game. Our season ended recently. I was the leading scorer and played the most minutes on the team. 06JUN2018 - 2017/18 Player of The Year Award - London Ramblers U14 Girls Basketball

On April 20, 2018, I (only 8th grader) was asked to play on a 9th/10th Grade team that was going to Fort Wayne, Indiana for a weekend tournament. I played a lot of minutes and averaged approximately 6 points, 2 assists and 4 rebounds a game.

In the summer of 2018, I have played in 2 - U14, Female 2's Beach Volleyball tournaments. My partner and I won a Silver medal on June 3, 2018 and lost in the semi-finals the weekend before.

In the 2017 summer season, I played in 2 - U13 Female Beach 2's tournaments. My partner and I finished first both times in pool play before losing out in the playoffs.

In the summer of 2017, I completed a week at the Elite Basketball Camp in Toronto, Ontario. As a result of my efforts and success in this camp, I was selected to attend a week long premier ball handling camp in Toronto beginning July 31, 2017. At this camp, I was 1 of 4 females who participated in the group that was primarily made up of boys going into 9th Grade. I was one of the younger players overall. I was told by the instructors that I was one of the top 10 players (boys or girls) in the group. On August 10, 2017 I was the only female 8th grader invited to participate in an Elite Basketball camp for players in high school who are looking to prepare for the upcoming season. I participated in 2 additional basketball camps this summer.

At the end of the 2016-17 school year, I graduated from 7th grade. I am completing 8th Grade. Basketball is my favourite sport. I have played school basketball since Grade 4. I have won 4 city championship titles in 4 years. I have played Club basketball since the time that I was in Grade 1. I have always played up one to two age levels. This past 2016-17 Club season, I played up on an 8th/9th Grade team. We played tournaments in Lansing, Michigan; Fort Wayne, Indiana; Flint, Michigan; Clio, Michigan; Grosse Point, Michigan and Lapeer, Michigan.

In the summer of 2017, as an 8th grader, I played in a Junior Varsity Summer league in the Greg Grant Basketball and Training Centre (http://greggrantbasketball.com/) in Sterling Heights, Michigan. I was only able to play in 6 of 8 games, but in the league statistics that were kept, I finished 2nd overall in points per game, tied for 4th overall in 3 point field goals made, 6th overall in FT% (18/25 for a .720%), 1st overall in FT% of players who attempted 20 or more FT's and 3rd overall in FT% of players who attempted 10 or more FT's. In the 2 games of playoffs that ended the season, I scored 19 points in game 1 and 11 in game 2. I was 3/6 from 3 point and 6/8 from the FT line in these two games combined.

I was also the starting goalie on our L5 - U13 Girls Club soccer team. During the 2017 season we won gold medals in 3 of 4 tournaments that we have played in. Our team finished in first place in our Elgin-Middlesex District Soccer League (EMDSL) with a record of 11 wins, 1 Tie and 1 loss. We clinched first overall for the EMDSL and will be moving up to L3 for the 2018 season. I had 6 shutouts in league play and 9 shutouts in tournament play. Our season concluded at the end of August 2017, with a final tournament in Bowling Green, Ohio. We finished 3rd overall in the U13 Elite division.
