Hello coaches and recruiters,
My name is Larissa Ruggiero and I am a 5’9” Guard/Shooting Guard in the class of 2024. I am from Ontario, Canada and have been playing high level basketball for 11 years. Currently I play in the JUEL league for Hamilton Transway, finishing this year 2nd in the province. In the past summer, I was a member of the Kia Nurse Elite AAU basketball team and the Southwest Academy AAU team. I have been recognized as a Top 50 player by Team Ontario, Top 25 player by Kia Nurse Elite and have been selected to participate in the Tri-City Top 40 Camp (being scouted and identified throughout the 2021 summer as one of the top players in Southern Ontario). Since my freshman year (2019), I have played for my high school’s Senior Basketball Team. Being the only freshman on the senior team, I learned many skills from my teammates older than me. I was a starter as a freshman and currently continue to be a starter during my senior year. This year I was named team MVP and was selected to play in the Hamilton Catholic All Star game within the Hamilton Wentworth Catholic and Public District School Board which is arguably considered the strongest league in Ontario.
As a student athlete, I take pride in working hard athletically and academically. Both in the classroom and on the court, I am determined, focused and strive to excel. I value team success over individual accomplishments! I am team player focused, my teammates can always count on me to find the extra pass. Regardless of the game situation, I give my best effort and encourage my teammates at every moment. On the court, my strengths are my court vision, rebounding and knowledge/IQ of the game. I also love communicating during plays and always try to be positive.
In the classroom, like on the court I am focused. Over the years, I have learned to be organized and to manage my time in order to succeed. I enjoy language classes and will be doing a co-op placement for teaching in the next semester. I was honoured to receive the Molten-All Academic award (2020, 2023), as well as the Community Service Award (2023) presented by my Juel league. I am a high honour roll student and the strength of the academic program at the post-secondary school I choose to attend will be equally important as their basketball program.
Thank you for viewing my profile!
