I started playing basketball for Fox Chase Rec summer league the summer prior to entering second grade. I really did not know how to play. I would play with my age group and also had the opportunity to stay and fill in for older age groups, if they were short players. The older girls helped me with how to play. After learning more about the game from the older girls, I was hooked and knew basketball was the game for me. As I got older and only remained at the 4ft 11 inch height I knew that I would need to work harder and show my skill. I have never backed off from any player regardless of their height even if it is 6 ft. I am a good ball handler and bring the ball down the court as a point guard. I do whatever it takes to defend our basket and I will compensate for my lack of height with driving faster to the basket for shots or jumping high in the air to rebound or block the passing of the ball.
I work hard in school and work on my projects as soon as they are received, so they can be completed on time. I have a good GPA and have been on the principles list my whole Freshman year. I want to combine my love and dedication to basketball and learning at a good college. I will work my hardest and show my passion and love of the game of basketball. I want the chance to be judged on my skill and not on the fact that I am not 6ft.
I just want to be given the opportunity to play the game I am passionate about and to further my education. So, I will be able to continue in the sports field with my Major of Sports Management.
