Hello to all. Jalasia is my name but preferred to be called Alexis, and playing collegiate sports is my dream. My mom, Angel, she's my number one reason for my decision. Watching her be so strong to raise 4 children, and making sure my siblings and I had what we wanted and needed is my motivation. She is our number one supporter and provider, and I want to make her proud. My mom coached various types of sports while I was young. Being in the gym and on the field watching her coach made me want to play sports. I was always a cheerleader, but I wanted to try something different. So the summer of my sixth grade year, I tried basketball for a travel team, in which my mom was one of the administrator. The coach loved me and I became a starter for that team. It went on to me playing for my middle school team my 7th grade year, and we went undefeated and won the middle school championship that year. I can go on and on about that team, we won several tournaments, for our travel team, we partake in as well. Again, I started on that team as well. Through playing sports, I have become a leader. I was captain on my volleyball team, middle and high school. Other females at my school looks up to me as a role model. I influence others to play sports and learn to love the game. I play multiple sports: volleyball, basketball, and softball, and I am a starter for all 3. As a senior (2022-23) in high school, I look to be taking college courses. I am an honor student, since elementary, and I plan to end it that way. I can do just about anything in any sport, but that does not make me great because I know it is more that I can learn, and one thing I know is I'm ready to learn and grow as a student-athlete.
