My desire to be a great athlete has shown in my accomplishments on and off the court. My love for basketball started in 3rd grade when I joined my first team. Playing on the basketball court, scoring goals, and my teammates' high fives encouraged me to continue playing the game. I thought basketball was the only sport, but I moved to Big Lake, Texas, my seventh-grade year, and my eyes were opened to many new experiences. Volleyball became more than bumping in high school, and I excelled and became a varsity setter. I played softball, participated in powerlifting, and bettered my time every run in cross-country. I joined the tennis team, excelled my first year, and improved every year thanks to coaches who believed in me. I worked hard, found a great partner, and in 2021 we won State Champions in girls' doubles. My goal this year is to make it back state and win girl's singles. While participating in multiple sports, I was able to keep a 3.74 GPA, become a member of the student council, and work as an athletic trainer.
I have had four successful years on the basketball court. My freshman year, I made varsity, played shooting guard, and enjoyed the opportunity to drive the lane and score. My sophomore year, I moved to the power forward position because I was one of the top rebounders, but it still allowed me to score points. I started at the power forward position in my junior season, but mid-season relieved our point guard. My senior year has been my best season yet, playing shooting guard. I have improved my shooting average from 8 ppg to now 13. I have two games left to make my 1000 point High School career scoring goal. I have continued to play tough defense, find confidence in my ball-handling skills, and step up as a team captain.
My biggest asset for any coach is handling the ball efficiently, seeing the court, being a play-maker, and scoring baskets. I have focused my final high school season on being a great leader, giving 110% to my team every game, and preparing myself for the next level of basketball.
I am eager to find a college that allows me to continue playing basketball and pursue a degree in physical therapy as an athletic trainer. I feel I could be an asset to any Division II, III, or Junior College. I know playing at the collegiate level will allow me to physically improve and play with girls on the same level of experience I have been given.
Basketball gives me the courage, discipline, and desire to work hard and make those around me proud. The friendships and bonds I have made in sports are my biggest reward. Sports have given me the drive to face my academic challenges head-on, knowing hard work paid off. I am a student who has to work extra hard academically, but I believe in hard work. I would be an asset to any team because I have a big heart for basketball.
