As a Sophomore, being and playing on the first girls team in my City to make it to the Elite Eight was the highlight of my High School Basketball Career up to this point. As a Texas athlete, competition in our 6A division is the toughest in the large state of Texas, and I wouldn’t want to be competing in any other division. As a 3 year starter on Varsity, I’ve honed not only my physical aspects of the game, but as well the communication and the IQ through experience on and off the court.
This past year, my junior season, we did not make it to playoffs. We had a new Head Coach take over our program and the rest of our starting seniors aside from myself graduated. Just before our district season was about to begin, I fractured my right (dominant) hand and was unable to play the beginning half of the season. And as everything seemed like it was collapsing down before me, I picked myself up and refused to let this hold me back. I learned how to do everything with my left hand. Draw, write, shoot, pass, dribble, eat. Everything. And when I came back to my team just towards the end of the first half of district, we had a 1-4 loss streak. Everyone was expecting us to come in 7th out of 8. Once I returned, me and my teammates flipped it around and climbed our way to earn the title of Bi-District Champions with a 9 game win streak until we were outed in the 2nd round of post season.
I am a hustle player, and I love to do the dirty work that no one else wants to. Im hoping to make a name for myself outside of my city. My aspiration is to play at the highest level of basketball and compete against the highest level athletes. I love going up against athletes and teams that are stronger than my own and push my limits to help my team overcome the toughest obstacles. My coaches always tell me that I have the most heart and hustle on the court and I will always give 110% in anything I put my heart into.
