I have always been involved with sports and "grew up in a gym" as the youngest of eight children. I always competed at the highest level of competition since I as five years old and always encouraged my teammates to excel and have fun. One challenge I have had is being the smallest one on the team. I like to think I make up for that with a hard work ethic, heart of a lion attitude and a high IQ when it comes to basketball. I love to outsmart my opponents. I grew a lot between my freshman and sophomore year by learning what it takes to be a team leader. My freshman year I had high expectations but we ended up with a losing season. The next year I was voted team captain and we made the playoffs. I can now see the importance of my role as point guard and how I can lead by example on and off the court. I hope to continue my work habits in class for the next two years that will mirror my college curriculum. When I get to college, in addition to basketball, I am focused on a major in Criminology with secondary interests in Physical Education and Business. I can see myself one day being a basketball coach! I hope to join a program that fits my energy, leadership qualities, competitive spirit and passion for the game!
