Basketball has had a significant impact on my life because it has made me resilient, strong-minded, and diligent. I came into Basketball during the second round of district, during my Freshman Year. When I first started, I was extremely out of shape, inexperienced, and knew nothing about the sport, nor what it took to excel in it. The coaches took a chance on me, so I started on Freshman B and worked hard to move up to Freshman A in less than 3 games. During my Sophomore year, I was placed on Jv because I was not quite Varsity material yet, but after several games, I quickly earned a spot in Varsity because of my hard work, dedication, consistency, and persistence to get better, stronger, and faster. During the beginning of this year, my Junior year, I had a lot of hurdles to overcome, and I had to develop a lot of mental toughness. My season this year (2020-2021) has been one for the books because I stepped up to the plate of high expectations that my coaches, teammates, and I knew that I was capable of doing; I have grown tremendously, not only as a player but as a teammate and an individual. As my Senior year approaches, I am currently working very hard during this off-season to become an exceptional player, play to my fullest potential, and be the player my coaches and teammates can depend on, on, and off the court.
As far as academics, I have always been a student that aims to excel and stand out. My parents, Coaches, and I hold me to a high expectation in school, which I am more than capable of. Balancing sports and school has always been a challenge for me because I always felt drained, but I never let my fatigue stand in the way of my responsibilities. Currently, I am in the top 15% of my class at Carl Wunsche Sr. High School, and I got there through consistency, hard work, and constant studying. There are always times when I question school, but then I remember that the struggle is necessary in growth and that I am not simply going through school, but I am growing through it, which something I always relate to basketball when times get tough. Once I graduate, I plan on continuing my education by going to college, on a basketball scholarship, and pursuing my goals to be a magnificent player and Anesthesiologist.
