There are many reasons why I feel that I am a high quality student-athlete and would be a strong candidate for your team. I started at a very young age to develop my love for the sport of basketball. The summer after my first grade year, I attended a sports camp with my older sister. I watched and admired the older girls on the court and began to practice the game at camps and on my own time. I knew if I wanted to be the best I had to work on things on my own time either in my basement, in my driveway or on the court.
As I grew older there were many athletes in my family and I saw how determined they were on the court. I developed my attitude, character and became the person I am today from the many situations I have seen them involved with throughout their sports' careers. I set a few goals during my high school career; the first was to win a State Championship with my team, secondly I wanted to score 1000 points. I achieved both of those by my Junior year and now I have set new goals for the remainder of my high school basketball career.
I am motivated by my family to be the best I can be as a person, as a student and as an athlete. My mother is a school principal and she has inspired me to be the student I am in the classroom which leads me to be the player I am on the court. My teachers will tell you I take my school work very serious. My father inspires me to give 100%. I look forward to a challenge and work harder to become better because of the people and influences in my life.
My family has supported me through the ups and the downs. I was on my varsity team as a freshman with my sister during her senior year. This position can be very challenging. I had to establish my own identity and prove to many why I belonged on the team. She and I worked phenomenally during the season and then she sustained a career ending injury the last game of regulation season. Her injury caused me to step up and be even more determined to play hard. While that year we lost in the finals, the experience taught me so much. My sister has given me strength and motivation to work hard for everything because you never know when that could be taken away.
I hope you consider me for your school and get to know the truly dedicated person I am both on and off the court.
