The love for the game of basketball has made me the person that I am today. Basketball helps me to get through hard times. This love has allowed building lasting relationships and is also used as a therapeutic tactic to get through tough situations. Summer of 2018, I had the pleasure of playing on an older 17U team and meet some incredible teammates. This occasion taught me life-long lessons on how to be open to new relationships and take advantage of great opportunisticities. The encouragement and motivation that I received from these girls have made my growth and love for the game even more undeniable.
The game of basketball has also made me realize that throughout life, there is always room for improvement. After being a captain of my basketball team for years and being talented, I held myself on a high level. Being around older girls and competing on a higher level has given me the knowledge of future growth. Continuous growth is always possible, and the game has taught me to always work hard at anything I do. Don’t settle for less; although I’m good at this game, I should always strive to be great. I believe this game will teach me great leadership skills, work ethic, and how to use the tools and skills needed to become a Great cardiologist in the future eventually. My commitment, leadership, and sacrifice that I put in all three sports played can show that I have what it takes to be a part of and leader on any team.
