Entering high school I wanted to make my story different than those in my family. Since my freshman year I hold being apart of my community a valuable part of who I am. For 3 years I have participated in the Civil War Food Drive in Longview, Wa. I go door to door dropping off food bags and the next week collecting them and sorting the food at CAP. In my school, I have helped organize Make the Change at Mark Morris High School. Here I have had the chance to speak to many groups in our school in an effort to change school climate. Being apart of and understanding the community I'm surrounded by, is important in shaping my character. The opportunities have been given to me by being apart of the leadership class.
The experiences I have had, lead me to where I am today; endeavoring to be a college athlete. Attending college and translating my leadership into a new community and team is a goal of mine. The game of basketball has influenced me to think bigger and be apart of something so much more than what I can individually possess.
