My motto in life is "When you start something, you finish it!" I bring this passion and commitment to all things in my life, my sports, academics, and personal goals. Sports are a big part of my life. I play multiple sports: basketball (club and school), volleyball (club and school) and softball. I am a leader on and off the court. I believe communication is incredibly important. I appreciate feedback from my team, and I also feel that my knowledge of the game and my leadership make it essential that I share insights with my teammates as well. If we do not recognize areas we can improve upon, the team does not get better. I take this constructive criticism and intentionally practice what has been shared with me. I believe both areas are incredibly important to build a strong foundation for a solid team.
I am a coachable athlete. I take to heart the insight coaches share with me to help me improve my game and the team. I try to carry a positive attitude everyday both on and off the court. This is instrumental in helping me give my full effort every day when I hit the floor. My personality is one that strives to always find something to improve upon and I do not just settle for "good enough". I feel that these traits are both demonstrated when I play ball and in my academics. I am proud to say that I carry a 4.3 GPA, and this does not happen by being content. I work hard in my classes. If I do not understand something, I ask. I advocate for myself in the classroom as well as extracurricular activities and being an active volunteer in our community. I am a member of our forensics team, FCCLA, and FFA. I am active in my church youth group, in my free time I help teach kids safe habits for when they are taking care of others and ways to be leaders in their activities (such as sports and school). I feel all these aspects of my life help to keep me balanced and are allowing me to grow into a confident and humble young woman.
Who I am as a person is a big dreamer and I always have been. Since I was in the fourth grade, I have dreamed of becoming a veterinarian and owning my own clinic. I know this requires drive and dedication in my schooling, which is why I take my schoolwork so seriously. On top of this, I am looking into shadowing and volunteering at a local vet clinic to increase my exposure. I also have a great love for basketball. I have been playing since the second grade and experienced a coach at one point who did not appreciate the contributions, I was able to bring to the team. This did not deter me; in fact, I dug down deeper and worked even harder. My parents have been an incredible support and helped me get as much ball time as possible. I now I am working with coaches who not only appreciate my skill, but they also look to me as a leader on the court and I am comfortable sharing my insight during game situations and offering input during practices on areas our team can improve upon.
