I started playing basketball in fourth grade, and have continued loving the game ever since. In my first 2 years of high school, my team has focused on communication, hard work, and the ability to do anything to win. With that being said, that in return made us very successful knowing we could all count on each other in tough situations. My freshman year I was very successful as a forward, and received first team all conference!! During the summer going into my sophomore year however, I unfortunately tore my ACL at a basketball tournament. The next six months I worked harder than ever to make it back to finish my sophomore year. During this time, I rehabbed with Joe Tofferi, the owner of Train 4 Your Best, and with his challenging programs, I reached my goal of coming back in six months from my injury. I played most of January and finished out the year with our first playoff game against Little Chute. This is when I was challenged the most being put up against their best player, and realized how much harder I would have to work in the off season to get back to my full potential. At the end of the season, I still earned honorable mention in the conference. My junior year was very impactful for me because I learned how to become a better leader and learn how to take over the game when needed. I have grown a lot as a player this year, and can’t wait to continue playing basketball throughout the next year and hopefully after in college as well.
I also am apart of the varsity volleyball and softball team. These two sports have also impacted my life in the positive showing me how to work as a team and become successful. In softball, when I was going into my freshman year, our softball team was projected to be at the bottom of the conference but with a lot of hard work and willingness to learn from our mistakes our record was above 0.500. During my freshman and sophomore year, I received first team all conference. The seasons have taught me that hard work pays off and even though you might not be predicted to be the best, with dedication anything can be done. As well as volleyball, where I was put on a team with all seniors my freshman year, at first it was an adjustment. I was the newcomer not really playing with any of them before, but with time our teamwork and leadership pushed us far in the playoffs. At the end of the season, I received first team all conference as well.
My parents both played college sports, my dad who attended Stevens Point for basketball, and my mom who attended UW Green Bay for softball. Having them as my parents has for sure pushed me harder to live up to their greatness and to want to be as successful as them. All of their stories has made me realize that I would love to be able to have the opportunity to play basketball and standout at the collegiate level.
During all the years of being around my parents playing sports, as well as myself playing, I have learned many valuable qualities. For example, the true meaning of teamwork, hard-work, and the benefits of being a team leader. I am looking for a program that needs a competitive team player who is doing anything to contribute to the team and win, as well as being a successful student athlete. I would love to continue to meet new people and make lifetime memories.
It would be an amazing opportunity to be able to compete at the collegiate basketball level and represent your University.
