I am a motivated student-athlete, with focused goals in mind both on and off the court.
On every team I have played on, I have developed positive relationships with the adults and other players on my team. My growth-mindset means that I am coachable, highly competitive and I really enjoy being a key part of the action on a team. When I made the decision to play beach volleyball, in addition to indoor, those qualities made it easy to be competitive, while at the same time learning the game.
I have been playing beach volleyball for about a year now. I train and compete with Fury Beach, which is the beach training program for Louisville Fury Volleyball, an all-boys indoor club. The majority of my clubmates are boys who have been playing in the sand longer than I have. That means I’m training on a higher net with players who have forced me to learn quickly how to play with grit and great stamina.
I mainly compete in Women’s tournaments, as the area in which I live in is still in the beginning stages of establishing Junior Beach Volleyball as a competitive sport. When I compete at the Junior level, I often play Co-ed Juniors, as my club is primarily comprised of boy players.
Academically speaking, I am as motivated off the court as I am on it. I have maintained excellent grades in school, with an overall cumulative GPA of 3.6 and a score of 28 on the ACT. Currently, I am involved in a selective internship through a class called sports medicine, as I plan to become a Physical Therapist.
