I began to play volleyball in 4th grade. I had a great coach and it was so much fun to learn and play with my teammates. I did recreational volleyball for a few more years and then tried indoor club. I had a great year, but I heard about sand volleyball and thought I would try it. Once I hit the sand I never went back to indoor. I loved everything about it! I began playing for a club in 7th grade and it has been my passion ever since.
What I love about beach volleyball is the freedom and growth that happens in each game. There’s freedom by being able to go to the ball and have great passes or hits! The growth comes from seeing what worked and what didn’t, and by playing challenging players and having successes and failures. Beach volleyball has given me confidence to be able to stand up for myself in games and while reffing. I love going to practice and also going to my strength coach. I typically train 6-8 hours per week and do strength training two times a week in addition to practice.
Academics is also a major part of my life. It is my dream to study nursing and become a labor and delivery nurse. Ever since I learned my childhood best friend’s mom was able to bring life into this world and care for babies, I’ve visioned that being my job. I care a lot about the life of others, especially babies, and want to have a job that cares for others and welcomes new life into this world.
I am searching for a school that has a good blend between academics and volleyball as both are very important to me.
