Hi! My name is Jaden Bennett and I am from Spotsylvania, VA. I have a 4 year travel indoor volleyball background playing Libero and some rightside. The spring of my sophomore year I decided to fully commit to beach volleyball. I made this decision because I wanted to really reach out of my comfort zone and challenge myself. I love the idea of having to pass, set, and hit opposed to sticking to your one position in indoor. I felt I wasn't able to show my full potential on the indoor court.
I have a very strong jump serve as well as great endurance. I work extremely hard in practice and on my own time to be the best volleyball player I can be. Many of my past coaches have told me I am a very determined and a motivated athlete. I am very coachable and a team player. I do my best to encourage my team and lead by a positive example.
I grew up doing many different sports one of which was gymnastics. Gymnastics is an individual sport unlike volleyball. I hold myself accountable for all my mistakes. I also had to learn to have self discipline which has helped me a lot in my volleyball career. This also taught me I need to workout and practice outside of mandatory practice to see improvement. One thing that sets me apart from other athletes is that I go to the gym on my off days to focus on strength, speed/agility, and my vertical jump. I also run track and cross country for my school. I run track not only to condition but to mentally challenge myself. For me, volleyball is not just about skill and strength, it takes a great deal of mental strength.
In the classroom I maintain a high GPA while taking all Honors and AP classes. I have served as my class secretary 2 years in a row. I am the chair of the Inter Club Council while being actively involved with the Student Council Association. I am apart of the Principal Advisory Team and one of the leaders of the Go Bears Club ( a school improvement team to promote school spirit and inclusiveness). I am the Vice President of Marketing for DECA (an international business and marketing club). I was also a recipient of the DECA Merit Award in 2020. I am also involved with National English Honor Society and Rho Kappa, a national social studies honor society.
I want to play volleyball at the next level so I can prove to myself that all of my past years of hard work was worth it. I also want my hard work in the classroom to pay off by attending a selective school. I am open to all options because in the end I just want to play the sport I love. I hope to become someone younger athletes can look up to and learn that your dreams can come true with hard work. I want to inspire younger girls who weren't given a lot go height that you CAN live your dream with hard work.
