My name is Tatum Smith, I am a Defender. I am with the graduating class of 2021 at Lake Stevens High School and I love to play volleyball. I play both sides of the court on the beach, I don’t have a preference. I have a tremendous passion for the game and I am always working on refining my skills. I am well versed at shot making, hitting around blocks, tooling and having a keen eye for the court. Because I am quick and I see the court so well, defense is my specialty. I hold a very high standard for myself and I have an ability to bear down and focus even against the toughest competition. I am a player that can rise to the occasion when the going gets tough. I am a fierce competitor; I strive to be consistent in all aspects of the game. I maintain a high percentage of serving accuracy and I have the ability to change depths and hit seams with ease.
I started playing Club when I was 9. My indoor Club team qualified and traveled to Girls Junior National Championships four times, we finished 5th in the National Division in 2018.
At age 10 I started playing Beach Volleyball and instantly fell in love with the game. I have played beach volleyball for 6 years and I have decided to go full time/year round beach in 2019.
I aspire to play competitive volleyball through high school and college. I am dedicated to improving my fundamental skills to the best of my ability. I am a team player always putting my teammates needs ahead of my own. I enjoy taking the leadership role on the court and strive to get my teammate pumped up and get the momentum moving in our direction. I am coachable and open to critique.
I believe that academics and volunteering in my community are also very important. I work hard in school to maintain a good GPA. I have high expectations for myself. I have been involved in ASB and Leadership at my school. I am actively involved in my community. My Community Service efforts include volunteering for the Miracle League with children and adolescents with special needs and Assistant Coaching for a Boys and Girls Club Volleyball Team.
My future goals include going to college to become a Special Needs Educator. I have always wanted to work with kids with special needs.
I am very excited about my future!
Thank you for viewing my profile and for your consideration,
Tatum Smith
