Before I started diving I was a gymnast for 7 years, but during my last year of gym, I decided to change to a sport that put less strain on my body. When I looked at diving it caught my eye because I was still able to do flips and twists, which I loved doing. Gymnastics gave me many great skill sets to begin diving because of the similar techniques used. The first year I started diving, Charly Collins and Debby McCormick comment that I was a very strong athlete and had the potential to be a great diver. Throughout the years, I have enjoyed diving and the adrenaline rush it gives me. Being a diver has given me the opportunity to have teammates, even though it is an individual sport it is still a family.
In school, I have always been hardworking and determined to succeed, even if it is difficult. With that being said academics has been one of my strengths throughout my life and has taught me a variety of ways on how to organize my everyday life. As a student, I have kept a 4.0 GPA and am still continuing to reach my goals inside the classroom. For example, this past semester I decided to challenge myself and took a dual enrollment class at the local community college. Outside of diving and school, I like to spend time with my family and friends especially when we can be in nature or just sit by the fire. I find the outdoors to be peaceful and a nice escape from my studies. Having said that, I think it is valuable to have fun in life, but also to designate plenty of time for school and training.
One of the main reasons I want to go to college is that it will allow me to pursue a major in kinesiology and become a chiropractor, physical therapist, or nutritionist. No matter which career I decide to pursue, my career will involve hands-on work, communication skills, and overall continues my goal to help others in life. Giving others that chance to get better for themselves is something I aspire to do because helping people get healthy brings me joy. I feel very strongly about this because I have been on the receiving end of working to get healthy and heal and knowing I could give that opportunity to others would be so fulfilling. I am looking forward to college because it will allow me to become more in tune with what I want to do in the future, give me the chance to connect with others, and grow as a human being.
