In the middle of June 2020, I retired from gymnastics which I had been doing for the last seven years. My gymnastics experience had left me broken, unmotivated, and burnt out. I was no longer excited about the idea of competing in collegiate sports. My older sister, who had been a club and high school varsity swimmer, suggested that I try diving at our high school. I started diving my sophomore year without any expectations. With the help of my wonderful coach, family, and teammates, my passion for sports was reignited. During the pandemic, there were no dive wells available in my area and I began to travel over an hour away to train with a club. I was happy again, training hard under a strict, but supportive coach. Today, I am driven to be the best student-athlete I can be. I understand what a good and healthy coach-athlete relationship is. I take coaching input very seriously and believe I am a coachable athlete. I know what it is like to struggle and work to be a supportive teammate every day. I greatly appreciate the opportunity and hope I can be an asset to your dive program.
